A Day in the Life

We've been in Cusco for a few days now and I'm starting to like it. At first I was reluctant to let my guard down and settle in, but then after a while I just stopped fighting it. It's actually kind of weird. It's like after being here a few days, and taking the daily smallpox-vacciene pill the government supplies to everyone, I'm just so much less inhibited. I dunno. Maybe it has something to do with my recent and intense urges to oppose democratic systems of government...eh. Who knows!

This is a view of the university. Believe it or not, the building
was built in 1999, and it one of the most prestegious schools
in the entire country! (Also, I go there LOL!!!!)
Anyway, I realized that I haven't really given all my blog readers (hi Mom!!!) a proper tour of my new lifestyle! What am I-- some kind of capitalist pig-dog?? NO! So here's a little bit about Olivia in Peru! Note: Not to be confused with BOLIVIA in Peru, which is a country- duhhh! (good observation, Mom!!!)

I'm currently taking classes at the Universitad del Sendero Luminoso (formerly 'The Guevara Institute of Glorious Red Peru'). It's a small school, but they offer a variety of study topics. As for me, I'm taking a bunch of classes about rocks and magic or whatever- but let's be honest. I did not come here to learn. I CAME HERE TO PARTY!!!! ROFL!!!!!!!!!!

We're staying at one of the nicest hotels in Cusco, and it's only a 20 minute donkey ride to the city center. The rooming situation is as follows:
Denise and I in our hotel room.
  • Denise and I
  • Kath and Sara
  • Katie and Guillermo (some random Brazilian guy)
  • Suey and Rachel
  • Sean and a goat
The group leaders stay in a house a little while away. They say the hotel "is haunted". LOL, what did I say about everything being cursed??

The city itself is cute. I like it. We went on a tour of it the other day; here are a few of the more notable sights.
The American embassy
The local government offices

The steps to the headquarters of the Peruvians
with Disabilities Association

A policeman stopped to let us take his picture!

So hopefully that gives you a better idea of what my daily life is like. If not, sucks to suck!  (I am SO bad XD )

Anywhooooooo, much luv and kisses
